Summary:

Many young migrants and refugees face numerous challenges when it comes to accessing and participating in the education system in their host countries. Research has revealed that these young people frequently have low levels of education and credentials, due to a variety of factors. Emotional, linguistic, academic, and social difficulties are commonly encountered by refugee youths. Education is essential to the integration of young migrants and refugees and to the restoration of normalcy, routine, and emotional and social well-being in the lives of young refugees.

Through our Erasmus+-funded project “IcludeME” we hope to assist these young migrants and refugees in better integrating into the educational systems of the host countries by equipping youth workers with the skills, knowledge, and resources they need to effectively support them on their path towards educational inclusion and social integration.

Objectives

The objectives of the project are to:

  • Develop and pilot-test the IncludeME Educational Package and training course for youth workers.
  • Build the IncludeME Digital Tools that will provide young migrants and refugees with high-quality training and learning opportunities.
  • Create the IncludeME Educational and Career Guide which will direct young migrants and refugees to make informed decisions on their education and transition to the labour market.
  • Develop the IncludeME Practical Guide to Resilience to help young migrants and refugees to cope with mental health distress.
  • Raise awareness among the associated partners and relevant stakeholders on the importance of literacy skills development, cultural competences acquisition, and digital readiness for young migrants and refugees.

Results

To achieve its objectives, the project has foreseen the following results:

  • IncludeME Educational Package and Training Course, that will include a well-structured training and learning course for youth workers to develop the skills and competences.
  • IncludeME Digital Tools, which will be comprised of an interactive e-Learning platform and 20 learning pills in the form of videos to equip young refugees with the necessary knowledge and skills.
  • IncludeME Educational and Career Guide, which will provide young migrants and refugees with the necessary information and guidance to make informed decisions about their education and career paths.
