The Cedefop Skills Forecast for Greece provides a clear message: the future labour market will be shaped by strong demand for medium- and high-level qualifications.
By 2035, over 58% of all job openings will require medium-level skills, while high-skilled occupations will account for the remaining 42%. Low-qualified roles will continue to shrink, representing just 5% of the labour force.

This shift points to persistent skills mismatches and increasing labour shortages in key sectors—particularly technical, service-oriented, and specialised professional roles. Investing in targeted upskilling and reskilling pathways is no longer optional; it is essential for competitiveness and employability.

Through the SMART project, we work to bridge this gap by equipping adults with the skills that the labour market increasingly demands, enabling smoother transitions into sustainable employment.
