GENERAL INFORMATION
TITLE: The hybrid future of the education and culture. From necessity to adaptation & innovation
ACRONYM: Hybredu
PROJECT NUMBER: 2024-1-ES01-KA220-ADU-000243751
DURATION: 01/12/2024 – 30/11/2026

Project description
In the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent restrictions in all European countries, the significant disruptions in people's lives prompted a reflection on educational strategies. In the transition to the post-pandemic era, the focus of the HYBREDU project changed to address not only the challenges presented by the pandemic, but also the increasing importance of artificial intelligence (AI) in adult education.
The pandemic highlighted the urgency of transnational solutions to ensure greater access to digital educational tools for adult educators across Europe. However, the transition to online education during the pandemic highlighted a growing digital divide, especially in the area of digital skills. According to the Digital Society and Economy Index (DESI) 2021, 46% of Europeans lack basic digital skills, including 37% of the employed population. This underlines the urgent need to close the digital literacy and skills gap.
The HYBREDU project responds to the profound lessons learned from the pandemic, emphasizing the crucial need for a comprehensive understanding of AI. The current digital divide, heightened by the pandemic, is expected to widen with the increasing integration of AI applications. Those lacking digital tools and skills for this AI revolution risk exclusion, intensifying global, regional, and national inequalities and jeopardizing equal access and digital inclusion.
Recognizing this paradigm shift, HYBREDU focuses on designing innovative tools for adult educators, addressing both digital and AI-related skills. Distinguishing between online learning and emergency distance learning (ERT), the project underscores the necessity for educators and students to acquire essential skills for effective online education.
Objectives:
- Providing adult educators educational tools (online courses and training activities) which allows them to improve the usage of digital tools in their educational & training activities.
- Developing the digital skills (Information and data literacy, Communication and collaboration, Digital content creation, Safety, Problem solving, DigCompEdu Integration) and AI knowledge of 25 adult educators per Country.
- Developing the digital creativity of 100 adult educators (25 per country), in terms of creating educational and entertaining activities for adult learners.
- Improving digital and AI skills & motivation to participate in online and hybrid activities of 100 (25 per country) adult learners HYBREDU expects both tangible and intangible sustainable results, which will achieve the objectives set and will target the priorities chosen.
.
Target group
TG1: Adult Educators, Trainers, Coaches, Teachers
TG2: Adults with little or no digital competences.
Results
- Online course - directed to Adult educators and will contain 6 modules, corresponding to the 5 areas of competences of the European Framework Digcomp and DigCompEdu, addressing the introduction of hybrid thinking at the same time with the development of each area of digital competences (Information & data literacy, Communication and collaboration, Digital content creation, Safety, Problem-solving). The main purpose is to address the digital transformation through development of digital readiness, resilience and capacity and to improve the competences of adult educators.
- Practical activities KIT – contains a set of activities (online, in situ & hybrid), developed for each area of digital competences, for the adult educators to use it in their daily work with low digital skilled adult learners. The main purpose of these activities is to be engaging, attractive and customized in such a way to be able to implement them on-site, 100% online or in a hybrid way without losing the active participation of the adult learners.
- Piloting plan & report - address adult educators & educational centres that would like to replicate the piloting, following our consortium plan and be able to monitor and evaluate the improvements of both adult educators and learners in terms of digital skills.
