The Fourth Unit of the IncludeME Educational Package deals with Mental Health and Well-being.
This course aims to empower youth workers with the expertise needed to support young migrants in managing stressful situations and addressing any mental health challenges they may face. It covers a range of crucial topics, starting with an understanding of the basics of mental health, adopting a systemic approach to identify issues, and mapping out various avenues for mental health support.
The course begins by delving into foundational concepts of psychology, focusing on terminology related to mental health, educational programs, interventions, and support systems. This initial stage ensures that participants gain a comprehensive understanding of essential principles, terminology, and strategies.
Throughout the course, participants will learn how to recognize signs of mental distress in young migrants, develop effective intervention strategies, and provide appropriate support. By the end of the training, youth workers will be better equipped to assist young migrants in navigating the challenges they may encounter and promoting their overall well-being.
Finally, case studies will supplement the curriculum, providing additional educational materials to enrich participants’ understanding. Training activities aligned with each module will also provide ample training materials to reinforce key concepts. Assessments will also serve as a reinforcement tool, gauging participants’ comprehension and retention of the course content.
