GENERAL INFORMATION

TITLE: Once upon a life: Memories of hope so that the seniors and the depopulation can face the social challenges of the 21st century through training in digital skill

ACRONYM:e-LIFE

PROJECT NUMBER: 2025-1-PL01-KA220-ADU-000353475

DURATION: 01.12.2025 – 30.11.2027

About the Project

Europe faces a major demographic shift, with the population aged 65+ expected to surpass 36% by 2050, and thus seniors remain among the groups most at risk of digital and social exclusion. While internet use is widespread among younger generations, only a small fraction of older adults is digitally active, leaving them isolated and cut off from essential services, communication, and opportunities for participation.

The e-LIFE Erasmus+ project addresses this gap by providing practical, hands-on training tailored to seniors’ needs. Following European frameworks on digital competencies, older adults will progressively build confidence using everyday tools such as email, YouTube, and digital editing software. Through this process, they will also learn to share cultural heritage through digital storytelling, contributing videos and content that showcase local history.

The project also responds to the challenges of rural depopulation, ensuring that seniors in remote areas can remain active, independent, and socially engaged. More than a training program, e-LIFE is a movement: it equips seniors with essential skills, strengthens intergenerational ties, safeguards cultural heritage, and revitalizes rural communities. By doing so, it contributes not only to individual empowerment but also to stronger, more inclusive societies across Europe.

Project Objectives

  • Increase the digital skills of seniors by engaging them in the design and creation of their own digital content.
  • Promote the heritage, culture, and history of depopulated areas through digital resources accessible on multiple devices.
  • Support the digital transformation of the tourism sector by producing a methodological guide that shares the project’s innovative approach.
